Cute Soap Gift

Items needed:

Bar of Soap
Two wash cloths, of complimentary colors.
Rubber band.
Lace, flowers, ribbons, items to decorate.

Instructions:

Lay out the two wash cloths.

With one, roll sides to meet in the middle.

Take the above wash cloth and lay on the other.
Then roll the sides to meet the one that was added on top.

Grab the two rolled wash cloths and turn them over.
Lay the soap in the middle.

Grab the rubber band, pull the two ends up and over the soap, wrapping the rubber band around the top.

Time to decorate!!!

Decorate as you wish..

What was done in the picture....

Take a strip of lace, that will go around where the rubber band is. Leaving extra to tie a knot.
In the center, glue the thin ribbon that was tied into a bow, glue flowers in the center of the ribbon.

To make a handle, slip the ribbon in the size of hand you want it and tuck the ends under the ribbon. Hold up the above lace around where the rubber band is, and note where the handles meet the lace. Remove both, and glue the handles on to the lace where you noted they met.

Once done, tie the lace with, handle attached, around the rubber band. Make a half knot, add a touch of glue, make another half knot over the glue. When dried, clip the ends.

Microwave Potato Bags...

Potato bags creates a thoroughly cooked moist perfectly done fluffy baked potato(es) in your microwave. Each bag can hold up to four medium sized potatoes.

How to make your bag..

Materials:
100 percent cotton fabric 10 x 21 inches**
100 percent cotton batting 10 x 21 inches**
Cotton thread **
**Note: to prevent fires, it HAS to be cotton.

  1. Cut two pieces of your chosen fabric and one piece of batting to 10 by 21 inches. Place the two pieces of fabric, right sides together. Then lay the batting on top of the fabric.
  2. Sew a 1/4 inch seam along both of the short sides. Turn the bag right side out, and then top sew the short sides again.
  3. To form the bag, lay the fabric with the inside of the bag facing up. Turn one end down 3 inches, and then fold the other end up so it covers the 3 inch fold by 21 to 2 inches.
  4. Sew along the two sides. I prefer to use a zig zag stitch so it doesn’t unravel and to stitch over the connecting flaps twice to add strength.
  5. Turn the bag inside out and your Potato Bag is finished..

How to use your bag..

  1. Wash and dry one to four potatoes. DO NOT PRICK or STAB Potato!!
  2. Wrap the potatoes in a paper towel and place in bag.
  3. Microwave as instructed by the microwave manufacturer. Time will vary per microwave.
  4. When serving, do not cut with knife, simply use a fork. Potatoes will be very fluffy.
  5. Let the bag air dry. ENJOY!!

Guild Presentation Blocks...

In our guild we have what is called "Presentation Blocks." This is where someone presents a block to the guild, to have others sew it for them. The presenter can ask others to use the fabric provided or to even add some scraps that they have at home. What quilter doesn't have scraps?? LOL

In order to present a block for the guild to do, you have to have enough points. A person earns points by doing other people's presentation blocks.

It is my turn to present a block.. I have prepared all of the instructions, cut the fabric, and put them in little packets for people to sign out and sew for me.

I picked a pattern that I have been wanting to do, and had bought the Bali Pop package to do this. I choose the Mulberry colors.

Here are the two that I have created for examples.

Someone did a show and tell of this pattern, and I fell in love with it. I was told I could find the pattern online and it can be found here:

Bali Pop Tutorial

They are all due back at the December's meeting. I can't wait to get started.. :)
