Guild BOTM for April & May 2011 Drawing

In honor of our Quilt Show coming up in July.. I have Done two sets for April and May's drawing..

For April.....

For May....

These are all 12" blocks..

Guild BOTM for the March 2011 Drawing

For the March block of the month drawing, I have a Bumble Bee, and a Magnolia bud..

Things that I did at the Quilter's Retreat...

The first thing that I made was a Thread Catcher. Since I forgot mine at home!
But, it was a project I wanted to finish while I was there anyway. It just ended up being first...

The pattern it was made from was this:
http://thestitchingroom.blogspot.com/2007/10/thread-holder-pattern.html

Then, I moved on to my Lassie Wittman No Topple Tote Bag

This is one fabulous bag!!

The next day, I was able to assemble my presentation blocks that I received back.

There is one thing I learned from this.. Everyone has their own quarter inch.. :)

Then there was the victorian needle case I was doing, until.. that one horrible moment, that I messed it all up. Maryann had me put it in a bag, and she labeled it.. "Crap in a bag!" LOL

I am totally looking forward to it next year.. :)

Here was my workspace.

and here was my view..

The food was wonderful.. and the people were fabulous!!!

Guild BOTM for February 2011 Drawing

February block of the month will be a bit different..

I started with the Bear Tracks patch work block.. from http://www.quilterscache.com/

I always put one patchwork and one applique up on the board..
So, I came upon an idea.. There is this cool site with stencil patterns for use.
http://spraypaintstencils.com/

For the applique block, I have them using two patterns, the bear and the bear paws.
The instructions are, to do it how they want to. :)

Here are two examples..

What I have been trying to do when I choose or make the blocks each month, is if they want they can make a quilt from the patterns that I am choosing. To give someone a few base block ideas to work with..

Guild BOTM for January Drawing...

Here are the blocks for January's drawing. I fell in love with the Cairn/Westie applique pattern that I found on fatcatpatterns.com, so I chose this for one of the blocks. The other block, I couldn't find one that I liked, so it was time to open up Electric Quilt and create one.. What I came up with I am calling "Many Dog Bones" to go with the Cairn/Westie block..

Working on Finishing up UFOs.

YAY.. I finally finished the last two buck-a-blocks..
On to finding fabric to assemble it.
Sad thing is the quilt shop isn't there anymore,
but the good thing is, she is spending lots of time with
her grandkids and enjoying retirement.. :)

Guild BOTM for October Drawing...

Since October is Breast Awareness month, Lisa Martin came up with a great idea to do the Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon…

Sindy at Fatcatpatterns.com creates such wonderful designs, and when Lisa recommended that for October, I immediately thought of her patterns. Women who battle breast cancer are true warriors!!

Guild Blocks of the Month....

I chair the block of the month for my guild.. I choose the block to do, and make an example, and provide instructions on how to make the block. It is optional to do, but members who do put their block(s) up on the wall, and sign their name to one paper per block, then at the end of the meeting, a name is drawn, and the winner receives all the blocks on the wall!! :)
