Long Time Posting it's Time to Catch up

Wow... it has been forever since I have posted anything, and with so much happening!

April
Busy Busy..
With the New puppy...

I needed to find a quilt to do since Pacific Fabrics was closing it's Puyallup store. I searched around and found one I fell in love with. Check it out... Dear Jane Quilt and Civil War Love Letters. I found a local Reproduction Quilt Workshop which a few of the guild members introduced me to. I so love them for this!!

Then to my surprise.. After 15 years of looking, I found my soul mate!! We were together for a few years 20 years ago.. We ended up splitting apart because of his addictions, and me being to young and dumb enough to understand it. The good news is.. We found each other!!! We both have our lives in order, and both single.. YAY us!! The weekend after I found him, I was down in Salem, OR visiting. It was like 20 years melted away.. and what we felt back then was still there.. Amazing!! I am so grateful that we found each other. Life is good!!

May
I was elected President of our Quilt guild. At first the thought horror-fied me, then I started thinking about it, and I really think we could all have fun with this.. Time will tell.

End of the month was one of my favorite time of year.. Women's Primitive Skills Weekend!!! I taught how to make dream catchers, and beaded feather. Here are some random photos that I took from my camera, and random photos that I took with my phone.

June
First half meeting as president.. Wow.. it sure is different sitting at that side of the table.

Time to gear up for the July Quilt Show!

My Daughter Graduated!! I'm so proud!!!!

Oh Boy.. on June 5th, I ended up rear-ended my son.. I can not believe I did this!!! His Jeep Cherokee is totaled, and my front-end was messed up. After having my car for one month shy of 10 years, I wrecked it. Thankfully, my honey customizes cars! He looked at me and said, "It's okay honey, we'll me it look like it never happened." 3 weeks later, then only signs it hasn't been wrecked is the emblem hasn't been put on. He's so awesome!! From start to finish...

July
The Covington Quilters Quilt show, was so Awesome!!! Here are the photos to this.. A group of us did a quilt for our local fire department to honor them on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. here are photos of them accepting this award.

August
My Puppy died. It was run over by a car.. It got out of the yard and into the street. :(

I started looking to see what other Boston Terrier was out there. Knowing that it takes a long time to find one.. I told myself I would just look, if one was there, it was meant to be. Voila! There was a Boston Terrier/Pugg mix.. He was a rescue dog in a foster home... Yes, I had to go get him.. He needed me as much as I needed him.. What a great dog.. I'm so glad I looked.. :)

September
It was my birthday.. YAY.. yet another year older.. booooooooooooooooo..

Two things that make this month the hardest is..

The first anniversary of my grandmother's death. She crossed over at 100 years old on 9/11 of 2010.

Then on the15th Sir Walter Lindal. Crossed over at the age of 92. He is the founder of our company, and my buddy. He use to come into work 3 times a week, and he called that retirement.. He was even putting in yet another patent right before he died from Kidney problems.. He is greatly missed! :(

National Quilting Day ~ March 19, 2011

For National Quilting day, I took a picture of my new puppy wrapped up in her quilt.. She sure loves her quilt..
Then planned on quilting, until I remember the guild's newsletter..

I never did get to real quilting until the NEXT day.. Funny how some things worked out, but I was able to still work on items that had to do with quilting on that day.. :)

Guild BOTM for April & May 2011 Drawing

In honor of our Quilt Show coming up in July.. I have Done two sets for April and May's drawing..

For May....

These are all 12" blocks..

Guild BOTM for the March 2011 Drawing

For the March block of the month drawing, I have a Bumble Bee, and a Magnolia bud..

Things that I did at the Quilter's Retreat...

The first thing that I made was a Thread Catcher. Since I forgot mine at home!
But, it was a project I wanted to finish while I was there anyway. It just ended up being first...

The pattern it was made from was this:
http://thestitchingroom.blogspot.com/2007/10/thread-holder-pattern.html

Then, I moved on to my Lassie Wittman No Topple Tote Bag

This is one fabulous bag!!

The next day, I was able to assemble my presentation blocks that I received back.

There is one thing I learned from this.. Everyone has their own quarter inch.. :)

Then there was the victorian needle case I was doing, until.. that one horrible moment, that I messed it all up. Maryann had me put it in a bag, and she labeled it.. "Crap in a bag!" LOL

I am totally looking forward to it next year.. :)

Here was my workspace.

and here was my view..

The food was wonderful.. and the people were fabulous!!!

Wow...

I just noticed, I haven't posted a blog since I have been back from the quilting retreat with the great people from our guild... A great time was had by all.. :)

Pictures!! :)

My Dog Bed Project...

When my dachshund is in his crate, he kept getting his blankets wet. They started to smell. So, I had to figure out something to correct this..

I came up with an idea to create a raised dog bed. It's still in the design stage, but I want to get the steps down..

I went to Home Depot, and went to the Plumbing section. I got the following items.

4 of 3/4" Dome Slip Cap. (no link)

3/4" PVC Pipe, PVC Cement.
I am making this for my dachshund, so my pipe was cut as follows:
2 of 20"
2 of 15"
4 of 4"

4 of 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/2" PVC Pressure 90 Degree Slip x Slip Elbow with taped Side outlet.

4 of 3/4" x 1/2" PVC Schedule 20 Reducing Male Adapter MIPT x Slip

First, make sure you have something to glue over, so it doesn't drip places.. It will, so be careful!

Glue the cap on the 4" pipe. This is the leg, and we want to be able to wash the end, with out stuff going up the pipe.

Glue on the 3/4" x 1/2" adapter. Using the adapter this way allows for adjustments if the place you are putting this dog bed is uneven.

Make sure the you put them on the same depth inside the cap/adapter, so they will all be the same size.

Next step, putting the pipes on to the elbows.

Do not glue these together yet!

Put the sides and 90 degree elbows together, and lay it flat to make sure that it isn't wonky.. adjust as needed..

Screwing on the legs.

Here i have put on the two legs, and the sides..

Here are is the frame assembled.
Make sure this is how you want it, before you do the next step..
Then glue the corners on to the pipe.

Do not glue the threaded side of the connection. This enables you to adjust when possible.

Lay the frame upside down on the berber, or fabric you are using..

Cut the corners out..

This is the test part. I have used safety pins on the bottom to hold it together to check to see if the fabric would hold up to my dog's weight, or if I need to put a more sturdy material on this first then wrap the berber around that.

Here it is before I put it in the crate..

Here is my dog on the bed.. It will go in to it sideways, but it is longways at the moment to take pictures..

You can tell he's saying.. enough pictures are enough mommy.. LOL

Portable Design Wall

The portable design wall I made..

I took a 48x36" Presentation wall I purchased from Staples.

http://www.staples.com/Staples-White-Corrugated-Display-Board/product_302919

used Elemer's spray adhesive glue that I got from Joann's

http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID=prd52302

Along with 2 yards of flannel.

Sprayed the white side of the Presentation board, and carefully laid, and smoothed out the flannel.

Presto.. Instant Portable Presentation board!

Women's Primitive Skills ~ Future Class?

Here are some earrings I was playing with. I was thinking Medicine Wheel Earrings may make a great class for the future.

Women's Primitive Skills ~ Beaded Feather Class

For this year [2011] I will be teaching two classes.. Beaded Feather, and Dreamcatchers...
Here are two beaded feathers I have proposed to do.. People who take this class have the option to bead what and how ever they want to. It's their feather.. :)
Unknown what type of feathers we will be able to obtain for the class, but turkey feathers are what I used..

For those who do not know how to do peyote beading.
This is wrapped beading:

Here are the Beaded Feathers I made for myself:

Now to make a dreamcatcher for a sample of the class..
